Player reviews from the last two years are barely about the game anymore. They're about ZA/UM — the corporate takeover that pushed the original creators out, the fraud allegations against the new co-owner, the ads for unrelated sequels plastered into the game's pause menu. Most positive reviews now say 'amazing game, don't buy it, pirate it.' The praise for the work itself hasn't dimmed at all.
This is the rare case where the score is decoupled from the recommendation. Critics graded an all-time masterpiece, and they were right. Players are still grading the masterpiece, but they're also telling you who's collecting the money now — and they don't want you to be part of it. Read the player reviews before you buy.
