Deathloop

ALIGNED11-point gap — critics scored higher
Critics

The reviews were rapturous. Multiple outlets called it Game of the Year. Most of the praise lands on the same beat — the time-loop structure actually works, the gunplay's tight, and watching the four targets line up in a single perfect run is the kind of feeling almost no other game gives you. The only consistent hedging is that the game throws a lot of information at you up front before any of it makes sense.

Players

Players tell a quieter story. People who got it to work love it. People who can't get it to launch — or whose game crashes mid-loop, or who tried the peer-to-peer multiplayer and bounced off the rubber-banding — are less generous. The phrase that keeps coming up is 'this game deserved better.'

The Verdict

Look, it's still Arkane. The premise lands, the loops are clever, and the first time everything clicks is genuinely great. Just know what you're buying. This is a shorter, tighter, somewhat shallower Arkane game, not Prey or Dishonored. The multiplayer's a ghost town and the crashes aren't fully patched. Worth playing on sale. Don't expect the studio's masterpiece — that one already came out.
