The 76 is the launch consensus, and it averages two completely different reviews. The PC outlets that got review copies tended toward 'game of the decade' framings. The console reviews — the ones that came out after launch — pulled the average down hard. Most critic reviews are essentially frozen in December 2020.
Almost every recent review starts the same way: 'I avoided this for years.' People came back to Cyberpunk after Phantom Liberty and the 2.0 update, found a game that mostly works, and fell in love with Night City the way the original launch was supposed to feel. The reviews are long. People want to talk about V, about Johnny, about which ending broke them.
This is the redemption arc, scored. Critics graded a broken launch; players are grading the game it took three years to become. The 11-point gap will probably keep widening as the launch reviews age out. By every measure that matters now, the players are reading the current game correctly.
