Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III

The reviews mostly agreed on the diagnosis. The multiplayer is the best Call of Duty has shipped in years — several outlets said exactly that. The campaign is short, recycled, and so thinly developed that 'full-price DLC' shows up in basically every review. Zombies opinions vary. Nobody calls it a great game; a lot of people call it a fun one.

Players aren't really arguing about the design — they're arguing about whether they can play it at all. Won't launch after a driver update. Servers go down mid-match. Cheaters everywhere, glitched weapons one-shotting across the map, Activision visibly checked out. The people still getting in agree the multiplayer holds up. The other ones got a refund.
